Two silver leaves and a plumb shaped fruit support a brilliantly coloured doublet opal. The leaves and fruit are compressed round silver wire contained in a frame which supports each element at a different level. The technique used to form the compressed wire is reminiscent of embroidery so although each element of this imposing brooch is essentially simple in form it has a rich texture and is thoughtful in detail and colour.
